Things You Need To Know

Before the conference…

ON LINE REGISTRATIONYou can now register for Equipped for Excellence on line. When you visit our website at equippedforexcellence.org you can easily see the place to register. Keep in mind that the pre-registration price is the same for on line registration as it is for paper registration. On line registration will close at midnight on Thursday, April 15, 2010.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE • You will receive a $5 discount if your registration and payment is postmarked or registered on line by Monday, April 5, 2010. In the past some people thought they could not receive the discount because they missed the deadline. Registration forms do not have to be in this office on the 5th, they need to be postmarked by the 5th. The same price structure will be in effect whether you register on line or by mail.

TWO TYPES OF REGISTRATION FORMS • In addition to the usual individual registration form, that can be passed out to your workers, a church may now use the Group Registration form. This will allow church leaders to register up to 15 on one sheet. The same material is called for on each form. Please provide all of the information requested. Many churches provide names on this form without indicating which conference they will be attending. This information is used so conference leaders can have an idea of how many to expect in their conference. If you do not provide this information our conference leaders will be at a loss as to how many to prepare for. Please type, if possible, or print clearly.

E-MAIL LIST • We are in the process of establishing a database of e-mail addresses that conferees have given us. We will send some e-mails over the next few months to keep you up to date. If you would like to be added you can contact me at marty@iesba.org and I’ll be happy to add you to the list, or you can give me your e-mail at Equipped for Excellence in April.

LOTS OF EASY PARKING • Because all of the pre-conference activities will be at California Baptist University, you may want to park there instead of Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church. This will possibly reduce the distance you have to walk.

LODGING AVAILABLE • Each year shortly before Equipped for Excellence a number of people call requesting hotel accommodations for conferees coming from out of town. It may be difficult to find accommodations on short notice. This being the case, we are providing a list of local hotels for your convenience. These prices were effective in November 2009. You need to add 11% room tax to each of these quotes. Some of these establishments offer AAA, AARP and military discounts as well as free breakfast.

Day of the conference…

GENERAL SESSION • The General Session will be on the front lawn of CBU. We will make every effort to provide enough shuttle buses so that you won’t feel the need to jaywalk across Magnolia Avenue. At any rate, don’t jaywalk!

ONLY AT CBU • Registration, breakfast, and the bookstore will only be available at California Baptist University. Everyone will need to register at the University. Be sure to stop by the bookstore and enter the drawing for one of two $100 gift certificates. The drawing will be at 4:00 p.m. and you need not be present to win.

HOW TO FIND HELP • The Equipped for Excellence staff is here to help you. Please feel free to ask anyone for assistance. An information booth will be located in front of the Yeager Building near the registration table. Anyone with a yellow shirt should be able to help you find your way.

WE NEED YOUR HELP • During the General Session would you please sit as near the front as possible. Many times there are many people standing in the back of the General Session. If you will make every effort to sit near the front perhaps it will give a little more room for others.

SAME CONFERENCE ALL DAY? • All of our conference leaders are outstanding in their areas of ministry. They have plenty of material for all day. If you wish to move to another conference you may do so at break or lunch time. You may also wish to have a friend attend one conference while you attend a different one, then share notes after the event. Better yet, come back next year and take a different conference.
